Cofty" As soon as somebody actually defines what they mean by " God" we can definitely proove it doesn't exist.This is especially true of the God of Christian/Muslim /Jewish theism.

The Rebel (A) The God of Christian/ Muslim/ Jewish theism is an organised religiouse God, that I wouldn't want to travel around with. I see that God more like a un-respectable housewife. But how can you divorce a God you never married in love and never consummated the marriage with? Well Iam in that predicament and I am awaiting my divorce. I married that God, with an arranged marriage at my baptism, but I consider myself divorced. If not officially soon.

Yes I see the problem, When I was 18 I once thought and spoke like you. That wasn't the person I wanted to be, so I bought myself that railway ticket and have travelled around, and discovered my 18 year old thinking was really quite, unattractive.

Now as I write I imagine you as an English gentleman, a pipe smoker, a kind hearted and friendly man, who has immediate understanding and sympathy, for each posters problems and you are keen to teach.

I am sure we each have a perception of the poster we reply to?

So imagine me as a poor refugee with limited education? or imagine me as a psychiatrist? The Rebel (A) Simply put my point is being alive is the sublimation of all that is good in life. This is why I think too much thinking takes us to the fantazy asylum, where everything depends on " my wish rhymes".

So my point is, I am alive, and my being alive does not depend on what either " YOU" or the " W.T" define as truth. Also the stronger voice can often emulate Nazism, and that voice in my country 20 years ago was homosexuality is wrong. ( Did you agree with that 20 years ago? How many other times have you been 100% sincerely wrong?) Having jumped that hurdle of having been so right so many times, then proven wrong so many times, I think for me without scientific evidence God should be a strictly a private affair. ( Organised religion is another matter)

Maybe? I don't personally agree. But who cares? Better If people can share the sip of that beer in your icon. And the more sips we share together, the more I realise the betterment of society is based on friendship not intellectual or religious questions that have no answers.

Well some people go on reading Nietzsche all day and night. Too much thinking can do something to a persons mind. Therefore If " too much thinking" produces nothing but cold-blooded logical calculation, which only creates inhuman distance from other humans then I would rather not think so much.

Now back to my Nietzsche, and the world of thought...I prefer walking my dog.

Cofty and Viviane, thank you both for your comments. I accept you both think my thinking is like riding a train in a second-class compartment, and off schedule.

As for Vivianes comment about my luck of education and critical thinking agreed. On this Monday morning we have the masses of office workers, and starving millions, the majority of whom also luck education and critical thinking skills. So personally I think it marvellous on this Monday morning that I am able to be at my railway station, and have the money simply to buy a ticket and get out of town.

And my freedom with this railway ticket, is to accept the farmers can teach me to milk cows, and a sailor can teach me to sail a ship, but from a scholarly point of view on God too much thinking is shit, because the philosophers be it athiest or believers in God or Love can't proove a thing in words.

The Rebels:- conclusion.

Neither this thread nor other threads I have followed on subjects like God, Love, Spirit have convinced me with scientific proof of the subjects existence or non-existence.

The reason I have reached this conclusion is that I consider the answer SUBJECTIVE. and that there is no scientifically agreed measurement.

Therefore what ever you believe I hope that goes well for you, Neither side can irrefutably scientifically make their point.

Love can be defined in many ways most of which can't be scientifically proven. However with love I am more at ease with its instinctive emotion than rationalising it.

So my observation is the threads debating God are a throw back to our witness mindset, when we were being over zelouse about being right, even though we were in fact wrong. More importantly as witnesses, very rarely did we change another's viewpoint and I am sure we are all grateful for that.
